From winning Vs Italy to losing Vs USA ...!!!

United States has made a surprise when they could reach the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup after beating Egyptian team 3 - zero in the meeting on Sunday 21-6-2009, in the third round of the first round of the championship hosted by South Africa until 28 June.

Management during the match was completely out of order. It was obvious that the Egyptian team is having a nightmare since the kick off, players didn't link well with each other, passing and ball control were all extremely poor and it appeared that Abdel Ghany, Samir Farag and Muhammadi are not doing well. Shehata kept all the players on the field till hal time despite going 1-0 down. the Egyptian team never looked like it will bounce back and equalize and so, Shehata should have made a couple of changes early on to restore balance in the team.

In my opinion,..our national team ended their matches in the Confederations cup in the worst possible way, although joy and pleasure they gave to Egyptians, Africans and the whole Arab world great after the win over Italy and the brave show against Brazil, but the Pharaohs killed the dream of millions by themselves thanks to their careless display and improper selection and tactics !!

I don't know what to say,..but the Pharaohs lead themselves to be defeated, and present USA with a free ticket to the semi finals!!!. The team who defeated world champions turned into a 3rd division side within 48 hours. And with this result, the Pharaohs said goodbye to Confederations cup despite Italy's 0-3 defeat at the hand of Brazil.

Egypt vs USA .. Can Pharaohs be in the final four of confederations cup, South Africa 2009?

A win over America will give Egypt about six points and as well, this will lead it directly to the last four if Italy fail to beat defending champions Brazil.
If Azzurri win in their next match with Brazil, this will put all three teams (Egypt, Brazil, and Italy) on one level, and the goal difference will be the deciding factor.
Assistant coach Shawky Gharib commenting on that: "Going into the last game there's the possibility of Egypt, Brazil and Italy all being level.
"In any event the initiative is in our own hands. If we win by a wide margin we will go through regardless of what happen's in the other game."
Gharib added: "Our first match against Brazil we were not very confident and made a lot of mistakes, but against Italy we played with more confidence and gained an historic win."
Defender Wael Gomaa, whose job it will be to contain the US's captain and all time leading goalscorer Landon Donovan, added: "We know we will need to work hard to beat the United States and qualify for the next phase."
Winger Ahmed Fathi predicted: "The Americans will be difficult but we have to win it to go through."
On the other hand, despite the Americans are in hard position cause of the hard losses from Brazil by (0-3) and Italy by (1-3) but they will have to do their best to beat Egypt, specially that they are still not completely out of the race for the Group B runners-up spot as if they beat Egypt, this will put them in a three-way tie with Egypt and Italy if they are beaten by Brazil.
Anyway, the group will be settled on Sunday but it looks likely that Italy will have to beat Brazil in order to guarantee for rising in the final four.

OH MY GOD !!!..Egypt wins Italy, the champions of the World ..!!

I Can't Believe This !!
The Pharaohs wins Azzurri by 1-0 in the confedrations cup, South Africa 2009..who can imagine that...!...Egypt,which had only two sharing in the world cup (1934 and 1990)..could beat the owners of the world cup titles for four times!!
By the way,..to be frank,i haven't been that fan before of football in general or thought to write about my opinions before, but the marvelous play of our team in this champion,(specially in front of Brazil) really astonished me..
I can't express the surprise and joy of the people here..it is late night now and i'm writing that post while hundereds are filling the streets of my small clam city, the streets which usually be empty at this hour..!
The African champions haven't been afraid from the champions of the world and really did their best, although of domination of italy most of the game's time and their high number of kicks and pointing..
From the begin of the first half, Italy made a lot of pressure on our team..but suddenly,a wonderful kick by a corner from the Wizard, Abu Trika with his peaceful attracting smile, to the beautiful brown pharaoh, Mohamed Homos, to score by head, the most precious goal in the Egyptian football history, and to make Egypt the first African (and Arabian) team to have a victory on Italy..
But what really attract me, and i guess it pulls out the respect of many in the world too,..is the view (or the panorama) of the prostration (Sajdah in arabic) after every goal...as it is referring to a big belief in the god which maybe the secret of their confidence and strength.
Anyway...all the world eyesights will now be headed for the next game between our team and America, which will be (in my opinion),too more difficult than the last both matches with Brazil or Italy...
I think that Egyptians now should be ambitious and high-aiming..cause it is clear now that what was a dream in the past could be a real fact today...

Egypt Vs Italy...and Quick Head Lines

In a crucial match in the Confederations Cup,Azzurri looks forward to the semi-finals, while Pharaohs is trying to stay in the game circle.
First, let's take a look on the latest results for each team:
Egypt's results at the latest five matches:
Egypt Vs Brazil 3-4 (Confederations Cup)
Egypt Vs ALgeria 1-3 (World Cup Qualifier)
Egypt Vs Oman 1-o (Friendly)
Egypt Vs Zambia 1-1 (World Cup Qualifier)
Egypt Vs Gambia 2-2 (Friendly)

Italy's results at the latest five matches:

Italy Vs USA 3-1 (Confederations Cup)
Italy Vs New Zealand 4-3 (Friendly)
Italy Vs Northern Ireland 3-0 (Friendly)
Italy Vs Ireland 1-1 (World Cup Qualifier)
Italy Vs Montenegro 2-0 (World Cup Qualifier)

Well, from the first view, maybe you think that the scale for Italy of course and maybe that is right. The Italians could finish their meeting vs. America 3-1 for their favor, while Egypt has continued to suffer from the loss of the last second shot on Brazil 4-3. Italy can book a trip for the semi-finals if they win in this match, and for sure they want to be at the expense of Egypt, instead of having to beat Brazil in the last of the group matches.
however, Egypt is the Africa champions for twice times respectively, and as well, they were looking strong in the first match against Brazil and could erase the deficit in the first half 3-1 to return to equal the match but it got loss after a correct penalty kick for brazil in the last minutes of the match .
Egypt still has work to do to qualify for South Africa next summer, but won the last two tournaments of the African Cup of Nations have shown that they can stay in power class World in a painful loss, Brazil. In addition, even if Italy won 3-1 over the United States, they didn't seem very impressive to do so.
Anyway, Egypt doesn't have any hurts, but Ahmed Muhamadi has suspended for this match after being sent by a red card against Brazil. Italy is also in good state and Fabio Cannavaro can be back.
Italy must play better defense this game, because it has enabled United States to have many opportunities to record. Egypt is more dangerous than the United States, then Italy will be more careful and at the same time, the defense of Egypt to play better when Italy has developed a piece because it is not a good kick to defend the loss of Brazil.

Italy and Egypt are expected to clash against each other in one of Group B’s game on Thursday. The African champions have high hopes to offer a good show as their last one facing Brazil.
On the other hand,Italy coach Marcello Lippi has warned his team (the world champions) to be wary of Egypt in their next meeting on Thursday.
Marcello Lippi praised the way the Egyptian coach Hassan Shehata management of the last match against Brazil. He said in a conference ,"I know the Egyptian team so well, they won the African Nations title twice in a row, and the fact I am impressed with the way the pharaohs, and coach of the management team who provided an excellent performance against Brazil and appeared as an orderly."
He continued: "The Egyptian team has players with great skills and high experience, I also observed them in the African Nations Cup in 2006 during my visit to Cairo."
And about the game against America," We have regained our focus in the second half , but this is not sufficient because we must focus very well throughout the duration of the game, especially in the game against Egypt. "
Shehata said: "We have recovered our confidence in ourselves in the game against Brazil although the loss in the African qualifiers against Algeria, and will continue to be always confident with all our strength and we will seek to qualify to the semi-finals and provide good football."

Who was Brazil and who was Egypt ??...general comments..

When Brazilian defender embraced the goalkeeper, "Cesar," before seconds from the end of match because he succeeded to prevent a shot for Abd El-malik to register a tie, i guess he expressed all the masses of the greatest football force in the world, cause all of the second half events confused every one saw the match and maybe think that Brazil and Egypt exchanged their shirts!!

No one can believe that Egypt recorded three goals against Brazil and controled the game, and was very close to the fourth goal, and then lose in a correct penalty kick in 90th minute by a mistake from Mohammadi as he blocked the ball's way to be in the net.
The surprising that Arabs and Africans had received congratulations on the performance of their team, despite loss, and we see a torrent of public of South Africans and Egyptians as they have a pleasure to see their teams kicks.

Football kings, scored two goals from fixed strikes cause of the lack of defenders and a goal of from a penalty kick.
On the other hand, the Egyptian goals came from charmers who could manged the Brazilian snakes !....Zidan scored the first goal by a high confidence as he received a golden pass from Abu Trika who haven't been seen for a long time by this high fitness level.
Shawky then scored his second goal from a sharing of Abu Trika and Sayed Moawad, which the football experts said in their comments that it was the most beautiful goal in the tournament till now... and after only two minutes, another golden pass from Abu Trika to Zidan enabled him to score the third goal in a fascinating way..
No one couldn't believe that the Egyptians had passed from Brazil, all of these skill and boldness, strength and creativity!!. and Zidan and Abu Trika, who sweeped Cameroon in Ghana 2008, snached all the lights from "Kaka" and his companions.

Sure, the surprise shouldn't hide the bad state of the egyptian defense in the first half which is very difficult to be accepted, and as well, Essam el hadari, the egyptian goal keeper haven't been on his usual high level, and have made many mistakes..
I guess there is no justification for the protest made by Samir Zaher abo
ut the pentaly kick..
Yes, the referee awarded a corner first, but he has the right to revoke his decision if the outer observer has another opinion..and i think it is better for us to celebrate a non deserved loss from Brazil..

On Thursday, the meeting will be the most difficult and Egypt has to prove that it is the a superpower in Africa,....Italy is different from Brazil in the very realistic and narrow spaces, which could deprive our players to use their skills, and Hassan Shehata should pay some attention to fix the state of defensive line.
In my opinon, it doesn't matter now who will be winner or looser,...but the most important..who will give better show..

Hard winning for Brazil in the last minutes after 3 Egyptian goals

In confederations cup in South Africa, and after 95 exciting and agitating minutes, the Brazil could finally got the match by a penalty kick after a hard situation which would lead it to a real trouble..
In the first half, and during the first minutes of the game, Brazilians could get a goal by Kaka as he passed so easily in the Egyptian defense line but, the Egyptians could return it back by a wonderful head kick by Zidan..then the Brazilians could get a 2nd goal by the creator,Luis Fabiano and then it was followed by another goal for Juan,
In the second half, the situation was something different, as Egypt could draw level through the Muhammed Shawky and Muhammed Zidan, who had scored the first egyptian goal early on.
And till the 91st mintue, there was really Egyptian steadfastness in front of the brazilian attack but Ahmed Al Muhamadi was sent off for using his arm to prevent a shot on the line and Kaka smashed in the penalty for his second goal of the match, to end the game by 4-3 for Brazil.
In my own opinion, winning on Brazil wasn't impossible and they were really in their worst cases but as well, i can't say it is just bad luck...cause i believe that there is no bad or good luck in football..
Anyway,...high hopes for the pharaohs and wish they play by better form in the next games,..my only wish that they don't waste the available easy chances..

Egypt Vs Brazil ...Can the Egyptians make the surprise??

"We're expecting a very hard match, a lot harder than a lot of people are expecting back in Brazil. Most of the Egyptian players aren't that well known around the world, but one thing's for sure; you don't win two consecutive continental championships just by chance. You need a lot of quality to do that." Brazil coach Dunga
"Egypt cannot afford to fear Brazil in our opener because if we enter the first match with such a feeling, we will show the same fear against the other teams." Egypt coach Hassan Shehata

By these few words, both coaches expressed their feelings about the important coming match..
OK,..quite apart from their contrasting pedigrees, Brazil and Egypt go into the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 in very different frames of mind. Boasting a full-strength squad and buoyed by a recent return to form, the South American giants are brimming with confidence. The Egyptians, meanwhile, find themselves at the bottom of their South Africa 2010 qualifying group and will have to compensate for the loss of star striker Amr Zaki, who pulled up with an injury only a few days ago.
Worryingly for the rest of the field, Brazil seem to be peaking at just the right time to defend the title they won at Germany 2005. Just days before jetting off to South Africa, Dunga's side earned an historic 4-0 FIFA World Cup™ qualifying win over Uruguay at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, following that up with a crucial 2-1 home defeat of Paraguay. Those back-to-back wins took Kaka and Co to the top of the table in the South American Zone and helped Dunga earn the kind of praise that has largely eluded him in nearly three years in charge as coach

The interesting here, is that the Monday's match at the Free State Stadium will be the first time the two sides have met in an official tournament. Their four previous meetings were all friendlies played on Egyptian soil, the last of them in 1963, when a Quarentinha goal gave Brazil a 1-0 win. Three years earlier A Seleção played the Pharaohs three times in a one-week tour of Egypt, chalking up comfortable 5-0, 3-1 and 3-0 victories. In the first of those games legendary right winger Garrincha scored the first of his 12 goals in the green-and-yellow jersey..
Anyway,...the question now..

12 step to make a mummy!...take alook on the process of embalming an Egyptian mummy

Have you ever thought before about how to make a mummy?..if you did, here is the process of embalming a mummy in about 55 days...

  • Get four jars to hold the liver, lungs, intestines and stomach. Keep the heart inside the body and discard the other internal body organs.
  • Poke a rod with a hook on it through the nasal cavity to pull out the brain. Stuff the head with tree resin and sawdust.
  • Soak the body in natron for 40 days, then put the body on an inclining couch so the liquids and natron fall to the bottom into a pan. Discard.
  • Rub the body with olibanum oil to make the skin supple.
  • Pack the body to make it more lifelike (with spices or sawdust).
  • Use wax to seal any incisions.
  • Tear fine linen into strips 16 yards long and 2-8 inches wide.
  • Wrap the smaller extremities (toes and fingers) first.
  • Next, wrap the limbs, and finally, the torso.
  • Sing appropriate chants over each body part.
  • Secure linen with tree resin.
  • Tuck in an amulet after every few layers.
there are some tips they have to be considered too..
  1. It'll be needed over 1000 yards of fine linen.
  2. The wrapping should take 15 days.
  3. Natron is a drying solution from the Nile area. It's similar to baking soda and salt
Now,what is your opinion?...it sounds easy..isn't it ;)
Anyway, Mummification in ancient Egypt was a very long and expensive process. From start to finish, it took about fifty to seventy days to embalm a body. Since the Egyptians believed that mummification was essential for passage to the afterlife, people were mummified and buried as well as they could possibly afford. High-ranking officials, priests and other nobles who had served the pharaoh and his queen had fairly elaborate burials. The pharaohs, who were believed to become gods when they died, had the most magnificent burials of all. In the case of a royal or noble burial, the embalmers set up workshops near the tomb of the mummy.

Astonishing Mysteries And Secrets You May Like To Know About "Khufu"...The Great Pyramid...(1)

In this series, I'll talk about the miracles and mysteries of the great pyramid,Khufu..as you know, there are so many big books and many scientists talking about it....actually these miracles seem to be endless as the archeologists are discovering a new secrets about it every day...
I'll try to be brief as possible as i can,..some of this scientific material i have read on the famous book for Zahi Hawass "the miracle of the great pyramid"...some other I've collected from many sites after a long and accurate search among the web..

The Location
As you sure know or see in the television ,the Pyramid of Khufu, (or Cheops in Greek) locates at Giza, Egypt... ok,...now,the incredible here that it demonstrates a remarkable character of its placement on the face of the whole Earth planet !!!

The Pyramid lies in the center of gravity of the continents. It also lies in the exact center of all the land area of the world, and what will surprise you that it is dividing the earth's land mass into approximately equal quarters!
The north-south axis (31 degrees east of Greenwich) is the longest land meridian, and the east-west axis (30 degrees north) is the longest land parallel on the globe. There is obviously only one place that these longest land-lines of the terrestrial earth can cross, and it is at the Great Pyramid! This is incredible, one of the scores of features of this mighty structure which begs for a better explanation..

Amr Khaled denies he was told to leave Egypt or banned from lecturing,

If you haven't heard about him before, Amr Khaled is a Muslim preacher and motivational speaker who is extremely popular with young, middle-class Muslims in the Arab world. Sometimes described as "more popular than Oprah," his success in reaching out to this group stem from his use of everyday language to discuss issues that face people daily. He uses real-life examples and speaks passionately from the heart, urging youth to draw closer to Islam and be active in building a better future for their communities.

In the letter published Saturday, Popular Muslim propagandist Amr Khaled denied allegations in a June 3 article that Egyptian State Security pressured him to leave the country as it was published in Al-Masry Al-Youm daily as a response to a report they printed alleged that he was ordered to leave Egypt.
“I have the freedom to leave, enter Egypt and live in my home and my country; however, I’m not allowed to give any classes or lectures at mosques or any other place that offers to host me — and I was not given a reason for this [decision],” Khaled wrote.
The paper reported last week that Khaled clashed with security six months ago regarding the content of an upcoming season of his show “Parables from the Quran.” In the episode, Khaled tells the story of Moses and the Pharaoh of Egypt.
Khaled refuted these claims, emphasizing that they are moving forward with production, and that he is still preparing the material before recording.
The paper had also reported that State Security had banned Khaled from shooting his new show “Al-Mujaddidun” (The Modernizers), and that he had sent his family to London, where he has enrolled his son in school.
“Our reality show ‘Al-Mujaddidun’ was supposed to start airing in March, however, the production company backed out in the last minute. You can ask them why they did that because I don’t know why, but I wish them the best of luck,” he wrote.
Khaled first denied these allegations to the news portal Islamonline.net on June 3, saying that he had not received any orders or official requests from Egyptian security bodies to leave the country and go to London.

Breaking News: H1N1 virus has been detected at the American University in Cairo (AUC)

Egypt reported two H1N1 flu cases at the American University in Cairo(AUC), bringing the number of cases of the influenza to three in the country, the Health Ministry said Monday.
"Two American students (of AUC) were tested positive," said Minister of Health Hatem el-Gabali at a press conference.
"One is a 23-year-old male student coming from New Jersey via New York and London," the Minister said, adding tha
t another case is a 23-year-old student coming from Florida via New York.
Both of them arrived in Cairo on May
28 and showed symptoms on June 5, and they are now in "stable condition," he said.
The ministry are following the health conditions of the passengers on board the same flights to make sure that there a
re no new cases.

El-Gabali said the AUC has halted the activities in the campus for five days.
The university's dormitory in Zamalek island will be quarantined for seven days by medical team from Health Ministry, and samples of 110 students and 124 teachers were taken to the ministry's lab to be tested, he added.
On June 2, Egypt reported its first A/H1N1 influenza case, who was a 12-year-old Egyptian-American girl coming from the United States via Holland.
Egypt, the most populous Arab country that was hit hard by the fatal bird flu in 2006, decided in late April to cull all the pigs in the country to stem the highly infectious flu.
According to the latest update by the WHO on Friday, 21,940 cases of A/H1N1 infection have been confirmed in 69 countries, including 125 deaths.

the question now..,will Egypt suffer again from the troubles which it has already got from bird flu?...a question still without answer

A hard defeat of Pharaohs in front of Algerians on the way for Wold Cup in South Africa 2010

Till now, the luck is opinionated against Pharaohs team (the owner of the African Cup of Nations 2006, 2008) to reach the 2010 World Cup,as it has received today a hard defeat in front of the Algerian one 3-1 ,scored the only goal of Egypt's Mohammed Abu Trika.
The Pharaohs played well in the first half but in the second half, the Algerians got three opportunities and scored three goals, while Egyptians have missed many opportunities.
Thus, it is difficult now for Egypt to have access to the World Cup, but the opportunity still exists, and the Egyptian team must win all the coming inside and outside home matches so that they don't depend on the draw of any of other teams in the group.
Now,still remained a match against Zambia in their home, against Algeria in Egypt and two matches against Rwanda in Egypt and Rowanda

Some attracting attention parts of Obama's speech to the Muslim World at Cairo University

Below is some parts of the text of President Obama's speech to the Muslim world, talking about Islam.

"Thank you very much. Good afternoon. I am honored to be in the timeless city of Cairo, and to be hosted by two remarkable institutions. For over a thousand years, Al-Azhar has stood as a beacon of Islamic learning; and for over a century, Cairo University has been a source of Egypt's advancement. And together, you represent the harmony between tradition and progress. I'm grateful for your hospitality, and the hospitality of the people of Egypt. And I'm also proud to carry with me the goodwill of the American people, and a greeting of peace from Muslim communities in my country: Assalaamu alaykum. (Applause.)

Violent extremists have exploited these tensions in a small but potent minority of Muslims. The attacks of September 11, 2001 and the continued efforts of these extremists to engage in violence against civilians has led some in my country to view Islam as inevitably hostile not only to America and Western countries, but also to human rights. All this has bred more fear and more mistrust.

I've come here to Cairo to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world, one based on mutual interest and mutual respect, and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles -- principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.

I do so recognizing that change cannot happen overnight. I know there's been a lot of publicity about this speech, but no single speech can eradicate years of mistrust, nor can I answer in the time that I have this afternoon all the complex questions that brought us to this point. But I am convinced that in order to move forward, we must say openly to each other the things we hold in our hearts and that too often are said only behind closed doors. There must be a sustained effort to listen to each other; to learn from each other; to respect one another; and to seek common ground. As the Holy Koran tells us, "Be conscious of God and speak always the truth." (Applause.) That is what I will try to do today -- to speak the truth as best I can, humbled by the task before us, and firm in my belief that the interests we share as human beings are far more powerful than the forces that drive us apart.

As a student of history, I also know civilization's debt to Islam. It was Islam -- at places like Al-Azhar -- that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities -- (applause) -- it was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires; timeless poetry and cherished music; elegant calligraphy and places of peaceful contemplation. And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality. (Applause.) I also know that Islam has always been a part of America's story. The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco. In signing the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796, our second President, John Adams, wrote, "The United States has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims." And since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States. They have fought in our wars, they have served in our government, they have stood for civil rights, they have started businesses, they have taught at our universities, they've excelled in our sports arenas, they've won Nobel Prizes, built our tallest building, and lit the Olympic Torch. And when the first Muslim American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers -- Thomas Jefferson -- kept in his personal library. (Applause.)

But that same principle must apply to Muslim perceptions of America. (Applause.) Just as Muslims do not fit a crude stereotype, America is not the crude stereotype of a self-interested empire. The United States has been one of the greatest sources of progress that the world has ever known. We were born out of revolution against an empire. We were founded upon the ideal that all are created equal, and we have shed blood and struggled for centuries to give meaning to those words -- within our borders, and around the world. We are shaped by every culture, drawn from every end of the Earth, and dedicated to a simple concept: E pluribus unum -- "Out of many, one."

Now, much has been made of the fact that an African American with the name Barack Hussein Obama could be elected President. (Applause.) But my personal story is not so unique. The dream of opportunity for all people has not come true for everyone in America, but its promise exists for all who come to our shores -- and that includes nearly 7 million American Muslims in our country today who, by the way, enjoy incomes and educational levels that are higher than the American average. (Applause.)

Moreover, freedom in America is indivisible from the freedom to practice one's religion. That is why there is a mosque in every state in our union, and over 1,200 mosques within our borders. That's why the United States government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab and to punish those who would deny it. (Applause.)

So let there be no doubt: Islam is a part of America. And I believe that America holds within her the truth that regardless of race, religion, or station in life, all of us share common aspirations -- to live in peace and security; to get an education and to work with dignity; to love our families, our communities, and our God. These things we share. This is the hope of all humanity.

Of course, recognizing our common humanity is only the beginning of our task. Words alone cannot meet the needs of our people. These needs will be met only if we act boldly in the years ahead; and if we understand that the challenges we face are shared, and our failure to meet them will hurt us all.

Now, that does not mean we should ignore sources of tension. Indeed, it suggests the opposite: We must face these tensions squarely. And so in that spirit, let me speak as clearly and as plainly as I can about some specific issues that I believe we must finally confront together."

well,..reactions to this speech were overall positive in Egypt, with the different parties expressing their satisfaction with the U.S. president's “reconciliatory rhetoric” but also hopeful "good intentions turn into reality.”

Obama tour's among Sphinx and Pyramids

“It’s awe-inspiring,” everyone says it when they see the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx and so did President Obama.

During his stay in Cairo, Egypt, where he gave his longest and arguably most anticipated speech yet, President Obama indulged in some tourism, visiting the Great Pyramids of Giza, which he labeled "awe-inspiring". Obama described the tour as the best off the record (OTR) experience of his presidency so far.
Giza was the last stop on the president's Egyptian drop-by. He was in-country for just over 9 hours, principally to deliver his speech about starting “a new beginning” in U.S. relations with the Muslim world. That was the centerpiece of his visit, but the drop-by the pyramids was the cultural highpoint. Egyptian security forces mounted an unprecedented security operation as US President Barack Obama strolled around the Great Pyramids of Giza on Thursday.
The president appeared relaxed in short sleeves as he was guided round the world-renowned site by Egyptian antiquities supremo Zahi Hawass, with a visibly chatty Obama at one point putting his arm around Hawass's shoulders.
The visit followed Obama's much-anticipated speech to the Islamic world from Cairo University, during which he sought to open a new era with the world's 1.5 billion Muslims.
Hawass was quoted by state news agency MENA as saying the visit followed "unprecedented preparations and security arrangements."
He took Obama to the feet of the enigmatic sphinx, an area usually off limits to visitors.
"This is the longest official visit to the pyramids," Hawass said, at around 75 minutes. Almost every official visiting Cairo travels to the pyramids, which rise up from the desert outside the Egyptian capital.
The pyramids and the sphinx are considered some of the greatest man-made structures in history.
The largest of the three pyramids, believed to be the tomb of fourth dynasty King Cheops which was built over 4,500 years ago, is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that remains relatively intact.
The site has been a tourist attraction since ancient Greek times with the US president also visiting the millennia-old "solar" boat in which the soul of ancient pharaohs symbolically travelled through the heavens with the sun god.
The boat was painstakingly reassembled from 1,224 pieces of Lebanese cedar wood found buried in the sand decades ago.

Barak Obama in Cairo..and high hopes for his historical speech to the islamic world

President Obama speech can be considered one of the most important speeches of his presidency as he addresses the relationship between the United States and Muslims.

In his speech, from the University of Cairo, he will hope to break with the hostility of recent years and set a new tone designed not only to isolate the extremists of al-Qaeda and the Taliban, but to re-establish the understanding America gained on 9/11 and lost in Iraq.

The president's visit has prompted an al Qaeda response, signalling that al Qaeda knows fully well the potentially dangerous implications for itself from this new American leader.

Although the president is not expected to go into detail about a new Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative, his words will be examined closely to see if they show signs of what many in the Muslim world hope will be a more even-handed approach than that shown by President George W Bush.

In a briefing for the White House press in Saudi Arabia, the press secretary Robert Gibbs said the president would try to break the stalemate in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. He would not be presenting a new peace plan but would articulate what needed to be done on all sides and personally how he views the conflict. There would also be a good deal of truth telling and urging people to see the conflict from all sides". This is one step not the final step, said another White House official.

The president will begin the process to re-energize the dialogue with the Muslim world, said one official. He will also discuss the shared interest in the dignity of all people in terms of health and education.

The president is a believer in strong and open dialogue, said senior advisor David Axelrod. In the speech there will also be a forthright discussion of democracy, human rights and related issues. nuclear non-proliferation and ways to deal with Iran will also be discussed. The idea of President Obama issuing Israel an ultimatum on settlement activity, as reported in an Israeli newspaper, is not accurate.

The White House is disseminating the speech through a variety of new media networks

anyway, can be this speech really a beging of a new relation between usa and islamic world that is the question..

Abu Simbel...the mystery and fantasy

Abu-Simbel...one of the most widely famous archaeological cities not just in Egypt but in the whole world,... it is a small town located on the western bank of Lake Nasser, about 290 kilometers southwest of and only 50 kilometers away from the southern borders with Sudan. It has a small airport that serves the tourists visiting Ramses II and Nefertari Temples. The importance of the city is due to those both temples that date back to the Predynastic era. With the passage of time, the temples Abu Simbel were abandoned and the sand-storms covered them completely. From time to time, the wind removed the sand and revealed parts of the faces of the colossi of Ramses II. This created a sense of mystery, fantasy and fear among the local population and the Nomades.
The discovery of Abu Simbel Temples began in 1813 when J. L. Burckhardt, Swiss Orientalist, found the top frieze of the main temple. He told Giovanni Belzoni, one of the most famous explorers in the world at that time, about his discovery. Belzoni traveled to the site, but was unable to dig out an entry to the temple. In 1817, the actual discovery of the temple happened wh en Belzoni returned to Abu Simbel and managed to at last enter the temple and took hold of all the portable objects he could transport.

Inside Ramses temple (the sun temple), gi ant (10 meters high) statues of Ramses line the central corridor of the Hypostyle Hal l (left). The walls and ceilings are all exquisitely adorned and there are several side chambers that were probably used to store cult objects. The most astonishing and amazing, is the central sanctuary where the sun’s rays at dawn would have shown on the cult statues on February 21 (Ramses birthday) and October 21 (his coronation)!!
By the end of 1956 and the beginning of plan
ning the building of the new High Dam, an international campaign led by the UNESCO was launched to save the monuments of Nubia. The relocation works the Temples of Abu Simbel began in 1964 and was finished in 1968 with a cost of 40 million $.

To avoid damaging the sculptures, both temples were covered by sand. Then, the entire site - not only the temples - was cut i nto large blocks which were classified and numbered. They were relocated 200 meters to the back and 60 meters higher than their original place. The whole original site was reassembled in its new location, reserving the original orientation and the original landscape.
